I have done lots of running in the past, lots on trails and lots on roads, I’ve done races up to Marathons but I’d never tried a trail run race – until the weekend.

A great start today, leaving the house in the dark I kicked a couch really hard and badly stubbed my toe, just what you want on the way to a running event..

I tried the second of a the Scenic Rim trail run series, only 10km to start. I had contemplating doing the long course, 16km, but on reviewing the Relive visualisation there was a lot of hills out there! A decision I’m very happy about, even on the 10km there was 450m of really steep washed dirt roads – it was hard! The run was at Swan Gully 4*4 park about 80km from Brisbane, a 4wd drive is perfect for trail running, there are tracks everywhere!

Very nice views at the top of hills meant a perfect excuse to stop and take a photo, nothing about catching breath 🙂

I loved it enough to go straight out to buy trail running shoes on the way home, my road shoes had been slipping all over the place! Looking forward to the next one…

Really hard, but fun. Help if I hadn’t stubbed my toe leaving the house on the way too the event!
