The weekend brought a two day to Mt Solitary in the Blue Mountains near Sydney.

Mt Solitary Walk

This is one of the few mountains around not connected to the main plateau so it is fascinating to check out… You have panoramic views over everything and a great variety of wildflowers in Spring. There is a small rock formation on the way up to it called Ruined Castle, definitely worth a look.

We got caught in really wild thunder storm on the way up, it’s pretty cool to be hiding in a cave with lightening flashing all around! And the colours are awesome.

There is supposes to be permanent water at an area on the West side of the mountains called Chinaman’s Creek (I think), it is water, it is permanent, but there isn’t much of it! Definitely bring water treatments.

We decided though, don’t do it as a through walk, the walk out to Victoria hospital; is a river crossing then a very steep boring climb… much, much nicer to go the same way you came.
